The Moment: my first photo book
The Moment was created at the request of the international publishing house Snap Collective.
Nastasja, my editor, asked me to identify a fil rouge capable of running through all — or part — of my work. It was a complex process: stopping, revisiting twenty years of images, questioning what truly connects them. Sitting in front of one’s own photographs means listening to them, searching for a shared meaning, hoping that what emerges through the author’s gaze can also be perceived by others.
The project developed over the course of a year. A process of selection and distance: gathering what continued to resonate with me, observing it over time, finding a key of interpretation. From there, the final edit of approximately two hundred photographs was shaped as a system of internal references, allowing the images to dialogue with one another and generate an open narrative.
This is how The Moment came into being.

The Moment is not a definitive statement of my work, but one possible way of reading it. A tribute to surrealism, to beauty understood as a sudden emergence, and to photography which — however carefully conceived — sometimes resolves itself in a fragment: an instant, a fraction of a second in which everything takes shape.
It is in that moment that the image comes together, when intuition prevails over control and photography becomes experience, presence, memory.

The Moment nasce su richiesta della casa editrice internazionale Snap Collective.
Nastasja, la mia editor, mi ha chiesto di individuare un fil rouge capace di attraversare tutto — o parte — del mio lavoro. È stato un processo complesso: fermarsi, riguardare vent’anni di immagini, interrogarsi su ciò che davvero le unisce. Sedersi davanti alle proprie fotografie significa ascoltarle, cercare un senso comune, sperando che ciò che emerge allo sguardo dell’autrice possa essere percepito anche da chi guarda.
Il progetto si è sviluppato nell’arco di un anno. Un lavoro di selezione e distanza: raccogliere ciò che continuava a parlarmi, osservarlo nel tempo, trovare una chiave di lettura. Da lì, l’editing finale di circa duecento fotografie, costruito come un sistema di rimandi interni, in cui le immagini potessero dialogare fra loro e generare una narrazione aperta.
Così è nato The Moment.

The Moment non è una definizione totale del mio lavoro, ma una possibile chiave di lettura. Un omaggio al surrealismo, alla bellezza intesa come emergenza improvvisa, alla fotografia che — per quanto a lungo pensata — a volte si risolve in un frammento: un istante, una frazione di secondo in cui tutto trova forma.
È in quel momento che l’immagine si compone, quando l’intuizione prevale sul controllo e la fotografia diventa esperienza, presenza, memoria.
